TYPES OF FINANCIAL AID

GRANTS

Grants and scholarships are often called “gift aid” because they are free money-financial aid that doesn’t have to be repaid. Federal Pell Grants usually are awarded only to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor’s or a professional degree and is based on household income, family size, and is need based. FAFSA SUBSIDIZED AND UNSUBSIDIZED LOANS

Subsidized and unsubsidized loans are federal student loans for eligible students to help cover the cost of higher education at a four-year college or university, community college, or trade, career, or technical school. The U.S. Department of Education offers eligible students at participating schools Direct Subsidized Loans and Direct Unsubsidized Loans. (Some people refer to those loans as Stafford Loans or Direct Stafford Loans.) Apply online at https://studentaid.gov

BANKS, CREDIT UNIONS & PRIVATE INSTITUTIONS   

There are some banks, credit unions and financial institutions that offer loans to help finance your education.

PAYMENT PLAN WITH ACADEMY  

$3,000 down payment required plus monthly payments between 8-10% interest depending on length of loan. With this option tuition must be paid in full upon graduation. We recommend that you apply for FAFSA or a private loan before considering a payment plan.

VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION SERVICES

Alpine School District High School Student Scholarship Program.  

High School students are not eligible for federal financial aid. Alpine school district high school students may enroll and qualify for a school district partial-tuition scholarship ($1,500) that may be matched by Taylor Andrews Academy. The Alpine School District scholarship for high school students has its own criteria for eligibility. See your high school counselor for eligibility.

Cares Act

Taylor Andrews Academy (OPE ID: 04173200) received education stabilization funds under Section 18004(a)(1) of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (“CARES Act”), Public Law No: 116-136. This Fund Report applies to the student portion received under the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund that is designated exclusively for emergency financial aid grants to students.

The institution appreciates that Congress and the President have made these critical funds available for eligible students who have expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to the coronavirus pandemic. We take receipt of these federal funds seriously and are distributing them in accordance with the CARES Act and implementing guidance.

The institution is making the below information available for transparency purposes and in compliance with the U.S. Department of Education’s Electronic Announcement.  For questions or concerns regarding this Fund Report, please contact Sabrina Deimler, Corporate Director, at sabrina@taylorandrew.com.

  1. The institution signed and returned to the Department the Certification and Agreement [or Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students on May 20th, 2020. The institution has used or intends to use, no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide emergency financial aid grants to students.
  1. The total amount of funds that the institution will receive or has received from the Department pursuant to the institution’s Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students is $383,197.00, with the portion of Emergency Financial Aid Grants available to Students being $191,599.00
  1. The total amount of emergency financial aid grants distributed to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act as of the date of this Fund Report is $191,598.36
  1. The estimated total number of students at the institution eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, and thus eligible to receive emergency financial aid grants under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act, as of the date of this Fund Report is 304
  1. The total number of students who have received an emergency financial aid grant under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act as of the date of this Fund Report is 348
  1. The method(s) used by the institution to determine which students receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants and how much they would receive under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.
    1. Policies on Determining Eligibility:
      1. Eligibility for Title IV aid in accordance with Section 484 of the Higher Education Act (HEA) including but not limited to having a valid Federal Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) on file, the student being an eligible citizen or eligible non-citizen, having a valid social security number, federal aid history in good standing, valid proof of high school completion, satisfactory academic progress requirements are met in accordance with continuing eligibility for Title IV aid
      2. Students who are actively enrolled beginning May 19, 2020, when the school was awarded.
      3. 348 Grants will be available in the amount of $550.57. These will be awarded to those who qualify on a first come first serve basis.
      4. Has completed 100 hours within their current program of study, or for those who have not completed 100 hours, waive the right to cancel their enrollment during the first 100 hours once grant disbursements have been approved or received
      5. Students who are actively participating within their current program of study, or those who are currently on an approved Leave of Absence due to COVID-19 and would be able to return to active program participation upon Grant assistance approval
  1. Policies on Determining Distribution:
      1. Under USDE guidelines, students seeking to obtain an emergency financial aid grant will submit the Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students form to the Financial Aid office.
      2. Only one form will be considered per student
      3. Only one grant awarded per student
      4. Review and processing of forms to be completed by the Financial Aid Director daily to verify student identity, contact information, eligibility for grant monies.
      5. Any student awarded a grant will receive an award letter to review and sign indicating award amount and advisement that funds are to be used for eligible expenses related to cost of attendance and the disruption of campus operations
      6. Any student who has applied and is denied grant funds due to ineligibility will receive notification of their ineligible status
  1. Any instructions, directions, or guidance provided by the institution to students concerning the Emergency Financial Aid Grants.
    1. Eligible students will receive an message from the Institution Taylor Andrews App containing directions on how to apply for the Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students under the Coronavirus AID, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.  Please make sure Taylor Andrews Academy has your most recent information updated on file. For those students who wish to receive notice via paper copy, please reach out to our Financial Aid Director and request a mailed copy of the application.
    2. Eligible students are those defined as:
      1. Students who are actively enrolled beginning May 19, 2020
      2. Determined to be eligible for Title IV aid, even if a FAFSA has not been completed for the current award year
      3. Those who are currently attending class in their program of study or have suspended act of participation as a result of COVID-19 who would be able to return with that assistance
      4. Has completed 100 hours within their current program of study, or for those who have not completed 100 hours, waive the right to cancel their enrollment during the first 100 hours once grant disbursements have been approved or received

HEERF II Reporting

Taylor Andrews Academy is a recipient of the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II (HEERF)

On April 20th of 2021, we signed and returned the Certification and Agreement to the Department of Education. Of the funds provided under Section 314(a)(4) of the CRRSA Act, we have provided 100% directly to our students.

We are eligible for $143,346 in Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students, which we are distributing to all students who are eligible to participate according to the Department of Education guidelines.

We estimated 188 students were eligible for HEERF II Quarter 3 and 125 students were eligible for HEERF II Quarter 4. We estimated a total of 313 students between Quarter 3 and 4 were eligible for the Emergency Financial Aid Grants.

As of 01/09/2022, 127 students have received grants out of HEERF II Quarter 3, 16 students have received grants out of HEERF II Quarter 4, totaling $65,280.9

TAA has reviewed each file on a case by case scenario to ensure all eligible students were offered the HEERF II grants.
Eligible students:
• Have completed the 2021 FAFSA
• Have completed the TAA-HEERF II Emergency Funds Application
• Have certified exceptional financial need which was due to COVID-19
• Are currently enrolled at TAA
• Are a US Citizen or National, Permanent Resident, or other Eligible Non-Citizen

We acknowledge that the previously collected and reported information available is unreliable in regards to calculating ‘need’ during the national pandemic, and may not accurately reflect a
student’s current ability to pay for school. In an effort to get these emergency funds to students as quickly as possible, we have streamlined the allocation process and reduced the red tape and
delays typically associated with the award of federal grant funds. We will accept self-certification of financial hardship from students, and require minimal additional verification, in order to provide the emergency funds to them.

With all of that in mind, TAA divided the total student emergency funds evenly between all currently enrolled, eligible students.

Prior to receiving any funds, students acknowledged and agreed that the emergency grant funds are to be used for approved expenses (such as tuition/fees, food, housing, transportation, course

materials, technology, health care, and child care) for the purpose of continuing their education. Students were given the options to receive the funds directly, or credit their student ledger.

Consumer Disclosure

Taylor Andrews Academy is accredited by Middle States and uses its calculation for student placement based on each program offered.

On-time Completion

The U.S. Department of Education defines “on-time completion” as anyone who graduates within the normal completion time. When a student comes to school and completes all applicable assignments and the number of hours required, they are considered to have graduated on time. If for any reason a student needs to take a leave of absence or delays graduation during their enrollment for life events such as sickness, family responsibilities, work, etc., it will extend their original contract date and then they are not considered to be an on-time graduate. Our on-time completion rate is 76.8%. Our graduation rate based on how many students actually started the program and how many students actually completed the program within the reporting period is 80% in West Jordan and 73% in Provo.
