Five Fictional Barbers You Can Be for Halloween

Let’s face it, in the world of barbering, there aren’t many fictional portrayals that you can look to for Halloween inspiration. That’s why we made it much easier for you to pick your costume by compiling a list of recognizable movie barbers.

Edward Scissorhands

Edward is a shy guy with scissors for hands. (That probably didn’t help with the shy thing.) He mastered the skills to create amazing shrubbery art, so there’s no surprise when he turned to hair design next. This barber (or cosmetologist, who knows?) is very well-known, so your costume would be easy to make or buy. Just make sure you aren’t using real scissors.

Sweeney Todd

This barber is a little more menacing than the soft-spoken Edward. However, they do have a few things in common: barbering and Johnny Depp. The movie this character stars in is not for the faint of heart or the squeamish. This costume is easily made by makeup, a wig, and some clothes you have at home.

Bugs Bunny

Remember the Looney Tunes short when Bugs impersonated a barber? It was called “Rabbit of Seville”. He gives his good friend Elmer Fudd a scalp massage, pedicure, a face shave, and a facial. Hilarity ensues and it ends in a chase. Put on some rabbit ears, get an old school barber’s coat, and you’re on your way.

Clarence

From the Eddie Murphy movie Coming to America, Clarence is a funny barber played by, none other than, Eddie Murphy. His hilarious stories in the barbershop will have you laughing so hard your cheeks hurt. To recreate this costume, get a balding wig, some crazy pants, and a barbering coat.

Eddie

Eddie the barber comes from the 2002 movie Barbershop. He also returns in the movie’s sequel, released in 2004. This wise cracking character is played by Cedric the Entertainer in both films. To get the Eddie look, get yourself a big wig and start making your own jokes to complete the persona!
