Tips for Curly Hair

For those who have curly hair, the stages of maintenance and control will vary. Frizziness and other problems are common with the hair, leading to deeper problems. If you have curly hair, there are some trick and solutions you can try to help keep your hair contained and healthy. Follow these tactics to keep your hair beautiful no matter what is thrown your way.

The Right Stylist

Finding a stylist that understands your hair is crucial. The person you go to should be certified as a hairdresser, and have an understanding of your type of hair. Not every stylist, no matter their previous training, is good at dealing with curly hair. Because of this it is important to find the right stylist for you and stick with them. They will give you advice on the cut that will best suit the curl of your hair in relation to your face shape.

Shampoo and Conditioner

As with many things in life, you get what you pay for when it comes to shampoo and conditioner. While you don’t have to get the most outrageously expensive products, you also can’t opt for the cheapest drugstore brands. Choose the salon quality products you know will have a positive influence on your hair. In addition to this, curly hair tends to dry out faster, especially at the ends. Many people with curly hair recognize this only makes it more difficult to comb through. Use more conditioner to combat the dryness, instead bringing moisture to your scalp.

Don’t Overkill the Wash

Those with curly hair should not wash their hair every day if possible. The texture of this hair already has a difficult time letting natural oils move to every part of the hair. Allow your hair a day or two if possible without washing to better allow the oils to protect your hair. By making this change, you should be able to notice a difference where your hair doesn’t dry out as easily. As you wait a day or two to wash your hair, you will notice a change in how long you are able to go between washes. This will give your scalp more time to deliver the natural oils to the rest of your hair. If you have curly hair, be sure to properly take care of it, avoiding dry, split ends, and other problems. By making these simple changes, you will better protect your hair from damage. Take care of your hair to ensure it will be healthy for years to come.
