Potential Hair Designer Salary

A hair designer’s salary will vary greatly based on years of experience, location and specialty, if any. There is also a difference between hair designers that work for themselves and those who are employed at a hair salon. According to Salary Expert, the average entry-level hair designers earns a little over $30,000 a year in base bay. Those with more than 8 years of experience can earn upwards of $48,000. In addition to base pay, hair designers often get tips and commissions on hair products they sell, which can add a few hundred to a few thousand dollars onto their base pay. The need for hair stylist is expected to rise 5% over the next few years, increasing the projected entry-level base salary to $46,000.
